A Canadian furniture company will soon start construction on a 130,000-square-foot warehouse and transfer center in El Paso to handle a growing demand for its products manufactured in Juárez.
Founded in French-speaking Quebec in 1940, South Shore Furniture has been selling unassembled furniture in the U.S. since the early 1980s. The company decided in the 1990s that its future lay in online sales of ready-to-assemble furnishings.
The company has 1,000 employees working at six locations that involve the North American Free Trade Agreement partners – three cities in the U.S., two in Quebec, Canada, and one in Juárez.
